n8n
A flexible workflow engine for connecting your tools without brittle glue code.
Lumen integrates and supports n8n. We are not an official partner of, certified by, or endorsed by n8n.
What n8n does
n8n is a workflow-automation tool that connects apps and services through visual, node-based flows. It can listen for events, transform data, call APIs, and trigger actions across many systems.
How Lumen uses it
Lumen builds automations in n8n to orchestrate the steps between your phone system, forms, CRM, calendar, and messaging. When a workflow needs custom logic that off-the-shelf connectors can’t express, n8n gives us the control to build it reliably — and to document it so you understand your own system.
Business use cases
- Route new leads from forms and ads into your CRM with the right tags
- Chain multi-step follow-up sequences across SMS and email
- Sync data between tools that don’t natively talk to each other
- Trigger review requests after a job is marked complete
Example workflow: Lead intake and follow-up
- A web form or ad lead submits their details.
- n8n validates and de-duplicates the lead, then creates or updates the CRM record.
- An instant acknowledgment goes out by SMS or email.
- A timed follow-up sequence runs until the lead replies or books.
Limitations
- Automations depend on the third-party APIs they connect to; if a provider changes or rate-limits its API, flows may need adjustment.
- Complex logic should be monitored — we add error handling and alerting, but no automation is fully set-and-forget.
- Hosting and maintenance of the automation environment is an ongoing consideration, handled as part of a support arrangement.
Security considerations
- API keys and credentials are stored as encrypted secrets, scoped to the minimum access needed.
- Workflows are documented so you retain understanding and control of your own system.
- We avoid storing sensitive data in workflows beyond what a step requires.
